Japanese Pop Culture has spread quickly around the world over the past decade (helped no doubt by cultural beasts
Fruits and Gwen Stefani herself) to place itself firmly in the collective artistic consciousness of the Western World.
Here at lovegeek we have also succumbed to the drug that is J-Pop, and have spent the past 10 months watching Quiz Hexagon and listening to Perfume and SMAP in Japan's second biggest city, Osaka.
So, using our experiences here in Japan as a jumping block, we give you our new edition of lovegeek!
Welcome to Issue Four, we live in the future. We are proud to present a collection of Japanese and international artists for this issue of lovegeek's zine. All of these artists are either from Japan, or have lived here at some point, immersed in the world of the cultural phenomena that is Modern Japan.
The interviews are loaded with tips from what to expect when you visit, to where to go once you get here. They also give insight into Japanese culture and, of course, feature amazing art to boot.
We are also working with video for the first time this year. The clips may take a few secs to load, and if you have any viewing problems, please let us know at info@lovegeekzine.net. We are hoping to work more frequently with video in the future so stay tuned.
But most importantly, we wanted to use this issue as a platform to raise awareness for the huge homeless issue in Osaka and across Japan. We have made a set of four cute as a button postcards to be sold through ETSY, with ALL the proceeds going to The Big Issue Japan Foundation. Follow the link! So, enjoy issue four of our little zine and we hope to see you in Japan soon.
xoxo
